The gap this chapter addresses
Taki tells stories daily on TikTok in fluent Arabic, then writes 'I go to my uncle house. We eat food. It was nice.' in English. The gap is not storytelling ability - it is the language to carry it.
The lean rule: use AI for scaffolding (structure, vocabulary, grammar). Keep the story itself entirely human - it is the one element in this book AI should never generate for a student.
Additional activities for Chapter 9
Activity A15-20 min
Story Mapping from Video. Show a 60-second wordless short film. Students map it using the narrative elements (setting, conflict, climax, resolution) before writing a word, transferring a skill they already use intuitively when watching.
Activity B15-20 min
Emoji-to-Sensory Translation. Students take three emoji from a real chat exchange and write one full sensory sentence for each, translating the compressed emotional shorthand into expanded written description.
